A Trend to Watch: The Mom Jean

It’s 2017 and here we are, still channeling our inner Monica Gellar and Rachel Green by wearing so many trends inspired by the 90’s. I am totally okay with this and not-so-secretly hope the 90’s phase doesn’t die anytime soon. Chokers on the neck of every teen and 20-something, Adidas making a comeback, flannels strategically worn around the waist, it’s like us 90’s babies are reliving our childhoods. On top of all of these coming back, there has been one trend that has been taking over the denim scene, the mom jean.

I honestly never thought I’d see the day where I’d wear this style again, but I have to admit I’m totally digging the look of the mom jean. It took me a little time to get used to their fit, since I am so used to wearing super skinny jeans all of the time. The relaxed fit of the mom jean gives off such a cool vibe. Like all good denim, they are extremely versatile and pair well with practically anything. Not to mention everyone seems to be wearing them. From the Jenners to the biggest style bloggers, the mom jean seems to be the biggest hit in the denim world as of late.

While the mom jean is extremely wearable, there are a few ways I personally love to style them. I wear them with cozy sweaters as well as bodysuits, oversized graphic tees, and crop tops. They are such an easy way to change the tone of an outfit because of their vintage-inspired look.

It’s so easy to switch up the vibe of the jeans just by wearing different shoes; I’ve paired mine with black leather mules, sneakers, and booties (like I did in this outfit). Booties are a great way to dress up the jeans in a subtle way, since they have such a casual and laid-back appeal to them. I wear my mom jeans this way most often as it makes the outfit easy to transition from day to night.

Are you for or against the mom jean trend? What are your favorite ways to wear them? I’d love to hear so comment below!
