New Year, New Me! That’s what we all say these days, right? I know I do, and then I think of a list of New Years Resolutions, which in the past I struggled to keep. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the New Years excitement and lose focus once a couple months have passed. Then, we get to December and wonder where the time has gone and get mad at ourselves for failing our resolutions. I want ALL OF US to avoid that feeling this year, because we are all way too amazing to let ourselves down. I have found some of the best ways to keep to my goals and want to show you five tips on how to keep New Years resolutions all year long!
Get Organized: One of my resolutions this year is to focus on writing more blog posts. But when it comes to sit down and write, I am overwhelmed by the thought of dishes in the sink or my closet being cluttered. In my opinion, the beginning of the year is the best time to go through your things, get rid of what you don’t need, and reorganize what you do keep. Regardless of what your resolutions may be, decluttering your life will help you stay focused and have a clearer mindset of how to accomplish your goals.
Keep Track: One of the big things that has messed me up in keeping focused is not writing things down. As soon as I started staying organized and tracked my goals, things began to get accomplished much easier. I just purchased the StartPlanner and am absolutely loving it so far! It has pages for you to write your monthly goals and daily goals. The planner also includes grocery lists, pages to keep track of your finances, and many more features to help you stay focused and organized. Finding a planner or system to keep track of your progress is key to sticking to your New Years resolutions.
Do Monthly Reflections: After you create your short term goals and keep track of them throughout the month, have a short reflection at the end of each month to think about how you did. What can you do to improve? What little things can you do on a daily basis to help accomplish your overall goal? What did you do right? What are you proud of? Look at both the negative and positive aspects of your month and write these down; this will help formulate new goals and help you improve drastically for the next month.
Have Someone to Keep You Accountable: This is sometimes hard because let’s be honest, we don’t like people judging us especially with goals that are important to you, but it is so important to have a friend, significant other, or family member hold you accountable. I have my boyfriend keep me accountable for a lot of my goals, especially health related. Since we live together, it is easy to have him be my workout and meal prep partner. In regards to my blogging goals, I have my friend hold me accountable and I hold her accountable for her career goals as well. She pushes me to shoot on a weekly basis and we do a lot of our reflections together. It is great to have people that can push you towards your goals in a positive way. Having a good support system will only keep you more focused and determined to keep your resolutions.

Monthly reflections! I love and do that at the beginning and end of the month. It’s such a great way to “check-in” with yourself 🙂

It really is! It’s a great way to look at yourself and figure out what you need to work on xx
I love the advice about having an accountability buddy. I have a few as well and it’s amazing how much it helps in staying on track.
You have a lot of great tips in this – all of them are simple, easy changes to introduce into daily life.
Thanks Brooke! I totally think it’s important to have someone holding you accountable. It’s so easy to let yourself get distracted or unmotivated but with someone watching you, it’s a lot harder to slack off!
