Over-the-knee boots are a huge trend this season that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. I personally adore the boldness a pair of OTK boots brings to an outfit and I actually find them extremely versatile. I have seen women with all different styles wear them and they all know how to make them their own. One of the best things about over-the-knee boots is that they can be dressed up or down for day or night. They are one of those statement pieces that can be worn on a regular basis that fit in seamlessly into a wardrobe. While there are so many ways to wear over-the-knee boots, here are some of my favorite ways to style them!
Button Down Shirts: Like in my outfit in these photos, dressing down over-the-knee boots can be easy with a simple button-down and a classic pair of jeans. They turn a casual outfit up a notch, but they still don’t make it look like you got too dressed up. This is one of the best ways to create a day-time and more calm approach to such a statement shoe, but they will still create a touch of edge to an ordinary outfit. I love wearing an outfit like this for days where I am running errands, but still want to look cute or if I’m grabbing lunch with some friends.
Oversized Sweaters: I’m going to have to say wearing OTK boots with oversized sweaters is probably my favorite way to style them. You can see how I wore it this way in an older post here. Let’s be honest, I am not afraid to wear an oversized sweater (or 30) and pairing one with some over-the-knee boots just makes an outfit that much more cozy. And if you want to spice it up, ditch the pants and pair the boots with a sweater dress. A ton of the outfits I obsess over on Pinterest consist of sweater dresses and over-the-knee boots because it’s such a good way to look cute yet still stay warm during the winter.
Shift Dresses: If I am trying to get a bit more dressed up or I’m going out at night, wearing OTK’s with a dress is my way to go. I love wearing a mini shift dress, my leather moto jacket, and top it all off with some killer boots. This is also a great way to transition over-the-knee boots into the warmer weather. I can’t wait for it to be hot (I’m praying that it happens soon) so I can wear my boots with t-shirt style shift dresses. It’s such an easy and cute way to ensure you can get more wear out of a “winter” shoe even after the cold weather has passed.
While these are few of my go-to ways to style OTK boots, there are endless ways to wear them and make them your own. I am constantly trying to find new inspiration on how to wear one of my favorite pairs of shoes and would love to hear what looks you’ve been drooling over.
